Viceroy Snowmass

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the new Viceroy Hotel in Snowmass. The hotel offers exquisite accommodations, the finest amenities, 5 star dining and exceptional service. Its environmentally responsible design and construction supports the Leed Silver certification. But the most amazing feature of the Viceroy Snowmass is the Ute inspired spa! After a day on the slopes relax and enjoy one of the incredible spa treatments and relaxation rooms. And if heading to the bar after skiing is more your style, you have to try a Mojito, simply divine. Look for your bartender wearing a kilt. This is my new favorite spot in the mountains. getaway to the new Viceroy Snowmass is a must. Please contact Anne@SnowVentures.com

Warren Miller - 60 years of ski films....

You always know when ski season is approaching.....the release of the new Warren Miller film. This year he is celebrating his 60th year!! If you've never attended a Warren Miller film, this is the year to start.....some of the most amazing footage of skiing and boarding....extreme locations......it will completely pump you up for ski season. My favorite was seeing the film in 2006 at The Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek...it was in November and the entire place was just electric with the excitement for the upcoming season. This year I will be going with some family and friends to see the new film, Dynasty, in NYC. Check out the link and look for a showing near you.... while there, check out the trailer for the film!! Not to be missed!! http://www.skinet.com/warrenmiller/

Early snow in Breckenridge

I woke up this morning to the excited sounds of my 4 year old yelling "it's snowing, it's snowing." My husband, my daughter and I jumped out of bed like it was Christmas morning. We had snow on our roof and flakes on our yard. My 8 year old daughter wanted to know if she could stay home from school and go skiing. When I said no, my 4 year old son announced he does not have school on Mondays and so he gets to go skiing. Then I had to let him know that the ski area is not open yet, but soon.

To start my day I went for a walk in the snow. I feel refreshed and now I'm having coffee and looking out the window watching it snow in September. Email me at lilly@snowventures.com to book your ski vacation and lets talk SNOW!!!!

Vail Resorts Site Tour

This past weekend we attended a Vail Resorts FAM trip to Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail and Beaver Creek. We were able to revisit and re-acquaint ourselves with the best properties to offer our guests. We were lucky enough to enjoy beautiful weather for a fantastic round of golf at the River Course in Keystone. Our team won! We also dined at several of the best restaurants these resorts have to offer. Vail Resorts hosted us so we could experience a special Rocky Mountain weekend and now we would like to help you plan a memorable vacation to one of these resorts.

Golfing @ Red Sky Ranch,Colorado

What a great golf course! Tucked into a small Canyon just west of Beaver Creek, this little gem is a monster of a course with a beautiful layout over the 27 holes. The Tom Fazio 18 has a little bit of everything, elevated tee box's and greens, plenty of water, and nice aspen groves on the back 9. The Greg Norman 18 is much longer and tougher, but nonetheless a beautiful golf experience for strong hitters to challenge. Bring your "A" game to the Red Sky Ranch!

Hiking From Aspen to Crested Butte!

Earlier this month some friends and I hiked from Aspen to Crested Butte during the peak wildflower season. Although, we had a few hours of rain, sleet, thunder and lightning the sun eventually came out and the views were spectacular. Its not a difficult hike but it does take about 6 hours. I highly recommend this hike to anyone!

If you find yourself in Crested Butte, you have to try the Secrect Stash restaurant for the BEST pizza. Some friends enjoyed the famous Figilicious but my favorite is the KGB with chicken.

Whistler's Reality TV Connection

Well, I realize by posting this I'm actually confessing a guilty pleasure...that of my love for reality tv's Hell's Kitchen with Chef Gordon Ramsay.
I have a great job in a great industry and have had the chance to experience more than once what is, forks-down, one of the best ski resorts for dining and nightlife--Whistler. (Oh, and they ski there too!)
But I do have to admit a bit of envy for those Hell's Kitchen contestants. Why? Well, because they are competing for a truly incredible prize--a head chef position at Araxi, one of Whistler's best known restaurants.
A sweet prize, for sure...but consider too that Whistler is playing host to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, which the Hell's Kitchen winner will have a front row seat for, and now you'll know why I'm green with envy, just like an undercooked brussel sprout. :o)

Ski Valle Nevado this summer!

My client just recently returned from a week in Valle Nevado. She had nothing but good things to say! A fantastic trip...snowboarding was awesome, had snow the entire time and the service was excellent from everyone. Her only negative comment was the cost of snacks and water....she suggested picking up these things before heading up to Valle Nevado.....Water alone was US12.00 for a medium sized bottle. Check out the pic of her friend....awesome shot!

4th of July in Breckenridge!

I love living in Breckenridge! One of my favorite holidays is 4th of July and Breckenridge has a great celebration. We had a parade that last for about an hour and a half with everything from the Budweiser Clydesdale horses, soldiers, firemen, policeman and enough candy to fill the bag of a child with more candy than they get on halloween. We have the Firecracker 50 bike race. After the parade it was fun to go down by the river walk and enjoy some food and drinks while the kids played in the bouncy houses, obstacle courses and got their face painted. It took my breath away when sitting by the river and looking at the mountains with snow still on them. I sometimes take for granted of the beautiful place I live.
After all that fun we went to a friends and had a cookout and later watched one of the best firework shows Breckenridge has ever hosted. We have so much fun stuff to do and explore for this summer. Email Lilly@snowventures.com if you would like to come see Breckenridge this summer or if you are already excited about skiing I can help with that as well. I hope to see everyone in Breckenridge.

What a great time at summer solstice in Breckenridge! Watermelon eating, seed spitting, pie eating, tug o war (girls versus boys, chicks win!), miniature golf, and fire engine parade made for lots of fun. Breckenridge in full on Summer rocks!!

Ski Training During The Summer With Mountain Biking

Keeping fit for ski season during the summer is easy with mountain biking. The balance you need to navigate down the mountain is similar to the balance needed to ski. And its a great way to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. I thought I was done with mountain biking after taking a nasty head over handle bars fall last summer while vacationing at
Sun Valley. But now that it is summer again in the mountains I can't wait to get my bike ready for some trail riding.

If you are looking for a great bike shop in Breckenridge, Colorado try Great Adventure Sports and join us in the help to build the Swan Mountain Recpath around Lake Dillon.

A Bear In Downtown Breckenridge!

Last Thursday while driving home from the office, I noticed a large crowd in front of the Barney Ford Museum in downtown Breck. People were pointing and taking pictures, so of course I had to stop and see what the commotion was all about. It was a small black bear that wondered into town looking for food. He was chased down Main Street and found refuge in a tree. Living in the mountains, locals are used to seeing bears but not on Main Street!
